Hints and Tips

I normally fish light float tackle with maggot & hemp/caster but with the decline in silver fish stocks (or so it seems) I think it may be time to play to our river's strengths and try for barbel.

I have the rod and reel but which end rigs work best, line, hooks, feeder or bomb and which baits? An idiots guide would be appreciated.

Hi Dave.... still struggling on your question. It seems that all research has ben centered on having fish as the host to the virus... water birds are another scenario,and so far I have not received satisfactory definitive input .

I am meeting with the EA in the coming week, and will pose the question. In the meantime, we must continue our own regime of air drying all nets, mats etc prior to fishing.

Well I am afraid that the experts are very uncertain regarding your query.

But I think you have raised a very interesting point, however the cormorants at least spend considerable time out of the water...unlike coots for example... mmm !!

Unfortunatley could not attend this due to work commitments. What was feedback , was it well attended and is there anything intresting or new that came out of it??

I think its a great idea to sell/buy gear within the club... much better than risking buying a lemon or being ripped off on E bay.
