River Colne

Apart from the Colne at Ricky & Denham, any other news/fish coming out, maybe in the Boyer stretches or the part of the Frays running off the weir at Denham (I still don't know how to get to this part!), the little stretch at Troy?

I've struggled on the 'river' the past few times I have fished (well, have struggled with all my fishing in the past few weeks - 3 blanks in a row!) so...advice?

Nice to see Staff out on the river at Ricky today... hopefully he will loose his nickname very soon.
I left Staff just as his rod tip started to bounce about due to fish activity. The river looked superb with great pace and colour. With temperatures still up it looks very promissing for a few whiskers.

what a corker of a fish ..... no dispute of a bite that nearly kissed goodbye to me rod!!!!
had too go after that but i was well pleased i would love to have stayed i had a good feel for that swim that day I'm sure a big barbel would have showed its self...........the next time,

Hi Ryan, yes it's a great swim ( the whole stretch there is superb )
Incidentally, within the pages of our"catches" section, you will see a smiling hon. secretary holding a seven plus chub from the very same swim.
It is a superb run for trotting a stick.
Incidentally, I blanked upstream, but my mate Nick had a couple of nice chub.

Grrrrr.....I seem to be the only one that cannot catch Chub on this stretch, I struggle to even get a bite from Chub! I think I have had two all season and they were both about 12oz!!

that's a big fish!, I'm looking forward to getting back there ill try trotting a stick next time

Had my walkabout late this morning ( before noon ) there were four and a half Pike anglers , and two Barbel anglers on the river.
Apologies to little "J" for calling her half an angler... but she is only 8. Anyhow, this young lady was the only one who had caught. It was a lovely Pike just over 8lbs and it looked absolutely stunning.
One of the Barbel boys had a good pick up but failed to hook.
The river looks fantastic, nice amount of pace and colour.

I went to the Denham stretch on Sat...I should have stayed in bed! Brolly blown away twice (despite being pegged down) and not a single bite - well I dont think I had one as I couldn't actually tell due to the conditions!!

My kind of angler.... get out there and shout at the wind and wet !!!...

I caught my biggest fish on the Colne on Saturday, ventured around behind the houses looking for a little shelter and after a few missed bites landed a lovely looking common carp, not massive by all you experienced fisherman's standards but still heavy enough for me to have to put down my rod and use two hands on the net (my Mrs would go mental if I nicked the kitchen scales to go fishing) the adrenalin and conditions on the day have made me look forward to my next visit even more... it was certainly a bit tricky in the wind and rain holding a rod and a golf umbrella but well worth it! Cheese made the difference, I didn't have a nibble on maggots!

I saw you sitting there from my kitchen and admired your bravery. Glad to hear you landed a decent Carp. I intend to dust of the rods for this weekend. The river looks murky and fast and therefore hopefully ready to remove my moniker!

Had a nice go on Sat trotted red maggot bagged around 15 grayling to a pound and half and same number of trout to 3lb.
