Advice please

Hi to you all, I am a new member as of last week, have joined this club for the excellent stretches of the thames, (live locally) could any one advise me as to Bray Reach & car park, there is a key lock on the gate, also there is a 216 m stretch of footpath closed around the lock area for renovation work (maybe this is why it is locked) access is an issue for me having had extensive reconstuction work on a gammy leg, this stretch does appeal to me for i am told there are some level fishing areas on this section, any other ideas or advice for the Thames would be really appreciated.
Kind regards
Nibs

Re: News on the other stretches?

Hi bankzzy, after the rain we have had I am glad to say the Thames is up and coloured brown,if it doesnt rain too much for the weekend and the following week it will start to fine down, the leaves and rubbish should be flushed through and the fishing will me great, except for lure fishing i'm afraid I think it will be too coloured for a while. You would IMO be better off quivertip/ feeder fishing heavy groundbait feeder and maggot hookbait,or set up a stick float.

Boveney Reach

Had a 26h session on this strech of a river.Came about 9pm and my first fish(bream) came out in 5 mins.Second came out in 10 mins.Things were looking good.It lasted till about 2pm.Boats were cruising up and down the river big time.End water levels gone up,bringing a lot of weed.Had no bites till about 8pm.Then fished till about 11pm and got really cold.desided enough of that bream its time to go to sleep.left one rods for the night(for something ,more interesting than a bream).Had a run at about 3am,wich was 6lb chub.woke up at 8 am,had another 3 bream and went home.Ended up with 36 bream, ranging from 5lb to 8lb and one 6lb chub.Im happy:)

Re: Re: Boveney Reach

Nice report Elijus
We need more feedback on this fantastic river.
The Thames Barbel, Carp are becoming legend, and now with the invasion of Mitten Crabs, evidently the Perch are growing to enormous sizes.

Dirty stinking Rotten Lie

Rumours abound about a happless Club Secretary and Fishery manager drifting with the current and a changing tide having run out of fuel on the Thames. Allegedly, the pair had to use maggot box lids for oars having left the real oars on the jetty !!!!!!!!!!
This is totally untrue..... only one maggot box lid was used as an oar... the second makeshift oar was in fact a bailing device.
Great days fishing however despite the "Incident" !!!!

Lower Thames Strategy Phase 4

Anyone heard of the above strategy ?? i.e. potential diversion channel routes..... meaning additional flood relief system.
Many potential problems here for anglers... proposals show channels intersecting many existing pits and lakes.. intrusion into SSI's etc.
Further investigation and comment needed by anglers individually, and by our Angling Trust !!!!

Good old days

Between 1839 and 1844, the Thames Angling Preservation society convicted 84 poachers... many of whom went to prison.
In those days all bailiffs were issued with a truncheon !!!..... YOIKS !!!!
